ABOUT
Mary Pomfret is an award-nominated writer. Mary's creative work has been published widely in literary journals and anthologies including TEXT, Hecate, Growing up Asian in Australia (pen name), The Melbourne Age, Idiom 23, Culture Is, The New England Review, Pendulum, The Irish Heritage Journal, Painted Words, Tamba, Taheke, Thirst, The Australian Adoption Journal, Scintilla, Arabesques Review, Bukker Tillibul and MPU Regional Poets Landline.
Mary is inspired by the legacies of generations of women writers such as Charlotte Bronte, Virginia Woolf, Alice Munro and Elizabeth Jolley. The short story form is a passion for Mary, in particular short story cycles in which stories blend, fold back and intersect with each other.
Mary lived and worked in Alice Springs for nearly ten years. Those years spent in the Australian outback have provided rich inspiration for her debut novel The Hard Seed published in 2018 by Ginninderra Press.
